Carbon Removal Integrity Panel

Online panel discussion on 8th October at 16:00 BST / 17:00 CET

Almost halfway through the “decisive decade” for climate action and there is much to do. Thanks to weak carbon pricing regulation and fuzzy voluntary reporting, corporates, by and large, are spending significantly less on climate action than they need to if we are to bend the global emissions trajectory downwards.

Carbon removal technologies, marketplaces, and buyers form one of several climate action industries that will need to scale exponentially. However, bar a few notable exceptions, corporates are not actively engaging in this market, partly due to concerns over the integrity of carbon removal credits.

Hosted by AFRY Management Consulting and featuring key representatives from Microsoft, Stockholm Exergi, and Nasdaq, this panel will explore some of the issues and potential solutions, including the Science Based Targets initiative’s views on removals, the compatibility of national and corporate claims & support schemes, and the challenges around credit price transparency.

Panel

  • Katie Sierks, CDR science & quality lead, Microsoft
  • Erik Rylander, Commercial Director CDR, Stockholm Exergi
  • Tomas Thyblad, Head of ESG Solutions, European Markets, Nasdaq
  • Dr Mostyn Brown, Carbon Removal Lead, AFRY Management Consulting
