Europe’s path to net zero is under pressure. Policy uncertainty, slower technology rollout and the challenges of decarbonising sectors such as heating, aviation and shipping mean the journey may take longer than the legislated 2050 target.

In response, AFRY has developed a new long‑term scenario exploring what a delayed transition (e.g., reaching net zero around 2070) could mean for Europe’s energy system. Rather than replacing our Central view, it provides an additional lens to test investment resilience under higher uncertainty.

This webinar walks through the thinking behind the scenario, its implications for European power markets, and how it complements AFRY’s broader scenario framework. The focus is not on predicting the future, but equipping decision‑makers to plan confidently across multiple possible pathways.
